XXL - November 2008

Photographed by Kenneth Cappello for XXL Magazine, November, 2008.

Is it stupid to buy a magazine just for the cover? I love this.

Drawing & Painting

Here's some of the experimentation I've done for Drawing & Painting I. I enjoyed doing these paintings but apparently the work is gonna be more intensive from now on, so hopefully that goes just as well..

Primary Stijl

These are some spreads from "Primary Stijl," a zine that was made for Communication Studio. I actually really like how it came out even though I was quite bored by the movement that it's based on - De Stijl.

Domenico Guidi

Domenico Guidi is another extraordinary Italian sculptor who was active during the Baroque period. I saw this work at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan and its beauty almost instantly had me mesmerized. It's called "Andromeda and the Sea Monster," based on the Greek myth where Andromeda was sacrificed to a sea monster as punishment to her mother for her arrogance.

Antonio Canova

Antonio Canova was an incredible Italian sculptor whose work marked the movement from the end of the Baroque to Neoclassicism.

Seriously, how insane are these pieces? For most of us today it seems like the hardest thing in the world to learn how to draw the human body, much less make works of art like these out of blocks of marble. The pristine form and expression in these blows my mind.
